Mr. Linard Bernard Anderson Sr

Linard B. Anderson, Sr. was born in Milan County on November 15, 1932 to Eli and Jesse Lee Anderson. He lived in Gause, Texas during his Elementary years. Later his family moved to Dallas where he graduated from Lincoln High School. After Graduating he enlisted in the United States Army where he was a decorated veteran and was active during the Korean War. Upon his return to Dallas, Linard met and married the love of his life Betty Anderson. They shared their lives together for over 58 years. This union was blessed with three children, Linard Anderson, Jr., Thurlene Anderson and Sherlene Anderson. Together Linard & Betty became the Founders and Co-Owners of Betty-Lin Early Childhood Center of Dallas. This Day Care Center located in the heart of Oak Cliff was ground breaking in that it was more than a baby-sitting facility, but was known for its Early Childhood Education Curriculum for Pre-K and Kindergarten. Mr. Anderson took great pride in the facility and to walk through was impressive indeed. He did everything from shampooing carpet, painting walls, building book shelves, driving the van for before and after school pick up. If you know Mr. Anderson, you know that he had no hesitation inspecting what he expected of his staff. He is known as a father figure to hundreds who have attended Betty-Lin and are now grown-up. The foundation was laid and it is no wonder that they are still operating for over 54 years which is a rare testimony for any type of Business in this day and age. Linard Anderson will definitely be remembered as a sharp dressor and one who had a penchant for fine cologne. He could go from looking like he stepped out of a G Q Magazine to donning rubber fishing gear. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing and hunting and being in the woods or on the lake fishing with his buddies. His all-time favorite hobby and pastime was playing BINGO. Someone commented that Linard was like the Honorary Mayor of the BINGO Hall, this is because he never met a stranger and with his larger than life persona, he loved to engage in conversation and dialogue and regardless of the subject matter he was the expert commentator and was always going to be right. Linard Anderson United with Community United Methodist Church and attended faithfully until his health failed. Linard leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Betty Anderson; children, Linard Anderson, Jr, Thurlene Anderson and Sherlene Anderson; siblings, Ruby Steward, Governor Anderson, Vater Traylor and Gilda Cousey; grandchildren, Linard B. Anderson, III, Gregory R. Jones, Jr, Justin R. Jones and Rivian L. B. Jones; three great-grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends.
