JEANETTE HAIRSTON

Obituary Jeanette Hairston began her journey of life on February 4, 1953 in Danville, Virginia. She was a graduate of Martinsville High School, class of 1972. She relocated to Lawton, Oklahoma in her early twenties. Her career involved but was not limited to the Fort Sill Civilian Personnel. She worked with Military Lodging and retired from there in 2008. After retirement she moved to Fort Worth, Texas to be with her daughters. She had a strong passion for helping others and influenced the lives of many. She selflessly gave to others and was always willing to share. Her house became a home away from home for family and friends. There were many gatherings full of love and laughter. Her love was irresistible and firm. To know her was to love her. Many that loved her grew to be family and likely referred to her as “Aunt Jeanette” or “Momma”. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, playing card games and pac-man. Jeanette remained prayerful and full of faith in her belief in God extending to her departure in life on November 7, 2021. She was preceded in death by her father, Nathaniel Smith Sr; mother, Norma Jean Breakly; brother, Ricardo King; and grandson, Sir Darius Hairston. Those left to forever cherish her memories are her daughters: Angela Hairston; Donna Hairston Byrd (husband-Kofi Byrd Sr.) and Camisha Steele; Grandchildren: Yurhighness Hairston; Johnae Luter; Jett Anderson; Kyri Byrd; Kofi Byrd Jr; Great grandchildren: Yurhighness Jr. and Yurmani Hairston; Sisters: Sharon Johnson, Doris Osborne, Darlene Green and Marcella Bowie; Brother: Nathaniel Smith; Special nieces: Selena Douglas, Knaij-Kia Morris, Naudi Steele and Hayden Roy; Special nephews: John Osborne and Darious Franklin ; Her companion Michael Bell; and a host of other relatives and friends.
