BETTY JEAN WAITES

Proverbs 31:25-26 She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. Betty Jean Waites was born June 12th, 1945 in Los Angeles, CA to the parentage of Emmitt Walker, Sr. and Beulah Mae Jackson Walker. She married the love of her life Reverend Leon Waites, Sr. in 1963. Her beloved husband preceded her in death, as he had to hold Heaven’s Gate open for her. To this Christ-centered union of 30 years were born eleven children, 3 passed shortly after birth (Leon Waites, Jr. preceded her in death). She accepted Christ and received the anointing of the holy ghost at an early age, and diligently did the Lord’s work. She held many titles; First Lady, Missionary, District Missionary, Mother, Grandmother, Nurse, Counselor, Confidante, Friend. She spoke and lived the word until GOD called her home. Betty, was a jack of all trades, and received full support from her husband and children to pursue any and all career interests. There was nothing she could not achieve that she set out to do. She held occupations which varied from meter maid to beautician to barber to nurse to live-in care nurse. To know her was to love her, and her love was unconditional. She leaves to cherish her loving memory Sons: Jessie Leon Waites (Judy); Paul Earl Waites III; Isaiah Christopher Waites (Sonia), and Leon Waites, Jr. (preceded her in death) all of Dallas, TX. Daughters: Daphene Waites Mitchell (Michael) of Lancaster, TX; Maxie Waites Dilworth (Steven) of Desoto, TX; Joy-Lena Waites Lee (Anthony) of Lancaster, TX; Katania Waites Curtis (Robert) of Lancaster, TX; Tiara Laurent of Dallas, TX; and Honorary Daughters: Ethel Lynn Crayton (Fred) of Bel Aire, KS; and Tamiko Matthews of San Antonio, TX. Sisters: Elizabeth Putilla (Willie) of Midlothian, TX; Shirley Rolling of Dallas, TX; Gail Hunnicut of Dallas, TX; Unique Walker of Oakland, CA; and Tomira Walker of Oakland, CA. Brothers: Emmitt Walker, Jr. of Dallas, TX; Len Walker of Oakland, CA; and Bubba Walker (preceded her in death). Sisters-in-laws: Joylene Elliott, MaeDell Waites, Agnes Waites, Princetta Waites Grandchildren: Christopher Donald, Ivan Carter, Kristen Dilworth, Tyeshia Mitchell, Jae’Leondre Waites, Bre Unna Dilworth Williams (Jay), Steven Dilworth, Jr., Armani Waites, Alexus Waites, Autumn Dilworth, Robert Curtis III, MyKelan Curtis, Fallon Curtis, Pharell Curtis, Zion Dilworth, Snow Curtis, Jesus Curtis, Keyara Jones, Durwin Jones. Honorary Grandchildren: Gentle Crayton, and Shakayla Crayton Davis (Lewis). Great Grandchildren: Chrishaun Donald, Desiree Donald, Deboris Donald, DahMahni Donald, Amara Mitchell, Elijah Stroughter III, King Stroughter, Ethan Stroughter, Bailey Williams, Tyrell Hammonds-Dilworth. Honorary Great Grandchild: Elaya Davis. Special cousin and family friend: Lena Brown and Marguerite Broussard. She also leaves to cherish her memory many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of relatives and friends.
